Commercial Lighting Rebate Program

Get up to $500 when you replace your existing light fixtures with an energy efficient models.

Download the application here.

North Little Rock businesses can save up to a $500 when they replace their old, inefficient lighting methods with energy-efficient lighting.

New, energy-efficient lighting creates a better, more productive work environment, produces less heat while reducing the load on HVAC systems and improves cash flow by lowering energy use for lighting.

As part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the City of North Little Rock established the Energy Efficiency Pays! Commercial Lighting Rebate Program. This program utilizes Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant funds to provide rebates to North Little Rock businesses that purchase energy-efficient lighting. Specifically, businesses must have retrofitted their existing fluorescent T-12 lamps with magnetic ballasts to fluorescent T-8 or T-5 lamps with electronic ballasts to qualify for the commercial lighting rebate program.

The following criteria must be met to receive the Efficiency Pays! Commercial Lighting rebate:

  • The rebate applies to indoor lighting retrofits only, the existing ballasts must be post-1978, and the lighting retrofit occurred after November 23, 2009.
  • The applicant must be a North Little Rock business, and the lighting must be installed at applicant’s North Little Rock address.
  • The rebate amount is for 25 percent of the retrofit cost, not including tax.
  • The applicant is limited to a maximum of $500 per year for any/all EECBG rebates from the City of North Little Rock.
  • The North Little Rock Electric Department must conduct a post-installation verification to certify the installation meets program criteria.
  • The existing lighting must be disposed of properly, according to the Universal Waste rules outlined by the Arkansas Department of Environmental Quality.

The City of North Little Rock reserves the right to reject any application that is incomplete or does not meet program criteria. Each commercial customer is limited to receive a maximum of $500 from the City of North Little Rock for any/all Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) rebate programs. The Efficiency Pays! Commercial Lighting Rebate Program offer expires when all funds have been expended. Any rebates remaining are posted on the www.nlrgreen.org.

Energy Saving Tip

A great way to cut down on energy loss and drafts at exterior doors is to install storm doors. Screen and storm doors are secondary exterior door which fit over primary exterior entry doors to extend their use. Storm doors block drafts, minimize energy loss and add an extra measure of security. They also allow you to use doors for ventilation without admitting an onslaught of mosquitoes, flies, and other bugs. Though screen doors and storm doors may be two different items, combination screen-storm doors do double-duty as they have glass panels that can be removed and replaced with screen panels. They also protect the main door, and when that door is open, allow more control of climate, ventilation, and light. And they can be helpful at keeping pests out and pets in.
